Hi! I’m Jim, and you’re a witness to the Birth of a brand-new streaming radio station. I call it Alabama’s Greatest Country…. that’s AGC Radio!
Radio has changed a lot – but not for the better. There are basically 4 Radio Owner groups in Country music. Radio stations sound the same everywhere you go. No local contesting….everything now is a national contest, not local, and your chances of winning anything are slim to none – and slim left town! When I was in Birmingham radio, we would drive around town giving prizes to people just for sporting a WZZK bumper sticker. That’s what local radio is all about! The DJs and listeners all had fun, and it was one big happy family. There’s a reason we were the number one radio station for over forty Arbitron ratings books!
So what’s different about your new favorite radio station?
I have worked in Country Radio for over 35 years…….in Washington, DC at WMZQ, WCOS in Columbia, South Carolina, and then to Birmingham and WZZK for 16 years…. on to K95 in Richmond, and my last stop, WDRM in Huntsville.
I had been in semi-retirement. But I really missed being on the air and playing Country Music. I had a dream of owning a terrestrial radio station one day….but they’re mighty expensive!
Familiar Radio DJs – Who want to entertain you and put fun back on the radio like the old days. Some DJs you will even remember from Birmingham and other markets.
Sound Quality – Better streaming than you will hear on FM radio stations.

The Music – Today’s ‘regular’ radio stations play the popular songs of the day and a few songs from the past 5 to 10 years. A lot of great country songs are nowhere to be found. On Alabama’s Greatest Country, you’ll enjoy music from some of the greats, like Alabama, Reba McEntire, Brooks & Dunn, Garth Brooks, The Judds, Martina McBride, Hank Williams Jr., and many more. These great songs blend well with today’s Hot New Country, and we haven’t forgotten ‘em.
This is my dream come true…..we just started, and I plan continue to build a great radio station in the months and years ahead. Playing great country music , Alabama’s Greatest Country….today’s Hot New Country and your All Time Country favorites that other station don’t play or afraid to play. We’ll keep work on putting the fun back into radio and let you know what is going on in Central Alabama – just like your local station should!
Success of great radio is very simple. We do research to find out what people in Central Alabama want to hear, and then we play it. No bad songs, and WAY fewer commercials than the boring regular stations.
